Internationally renowned as the ‘Town of Books’ and famous for it’s annual Literature Festival. Explore the town’s independent shops, secondhand bookshops and markets. This pretty market town is built around a Castle and has accommodation to suit all.


Talgarth 

A lovely village nestled at the foot of the Black Mountains. Why not stay in a pod at Black Mountain Bespoke Breaks. Visit the restored mill, thriving village shops and famous butchers. Great walks in the area include one up to Pwll yr Wrach (Witches Pool) nature reserve.

In Talgarth, check out the Bara Melin at the restored water mill, selling freshly baked bread with flour milled on site. The family-run Honey Café serves great food all day with a TexMex menu in the evening and delicious Ghurkha curries are always on the menu at The New Ghurkha Inn. Fancy an ice cream? Drop in to The Malthouse on the square and choose from over 20 delicious flavours!.

Shopping Famous for being the town of books, Hay-on- Wye also specialises in lovely independent shops with an antiques arcade and open air market on Thursdays. Pop in and see Geraldine at C.J Gibbons Butchers and treat yourself to some of the finest local produce. Talgarth boasts W.J George Butchers and the Delipot a family-run butchers, established 1886 and famous for quality – they also boast a deli offering homemade treats and local cheeses.
